Our shop is located within a historic textile mill in Lewiston, Maine. We are located in Maine’s second largest city, 20 miles from the ocean and 30 miles from the western Maine mountains. Lewiston is home to Bates College, and the immediate surrounding area has seen as its residents citizens as diverse as artist Marsden Hartley, author Steven King, and guitarist Lenny Breau.
Out of our 3000 square foot shop, we produce about 150 pieces of furniture each year. We are supported by good quality professional equipment, a ready supply of many species of native hardwood, and great neighbors who are artisans in their own right.
We don’t… however have automated “factory-like” machinery. We rely on traditional methods using both power and hand-tools. Our strongest asset is our imagination and a strong work ethic. John Stass is honored to have with him at Katahdin designer/craftsmen Caleb Pine and Steven Anderson. Both Caleb and Steven graduated from Maine College of Art with BFA degrees in furniture production and design.
